What it is

Neon lettering is a lit tube bent into the shape of the letters, in glass or in today’s LED neon. It is often mounted on a clear backing in a window or fixed straight to the wall.

Neon looks very different by day and by night. Start with the daylight picture, then try the night view to see the sign lit on the same photo.

Where it goes
  • Window

Behind the glass, facing the street.

  • Wall

Fixed to an inside or outside wall.

  • Fascia

On the fascia band, for a sign that glows from the street.
